New Life for Classics…

We are very happy with these classic Belgium Brass chandeliers! Rewired without the normal “candles + drip cups” and adding LED sparkle! The long chains allow them to work independently from one another AND to alter the heights as needed. They can all be moved one side or be taken off the bar and laid on the floor – or you can simply use imagination.       A myriad of possibilities!

NEW LOOK FOR ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA – Chamber of Commerce, Brussels

We were asked to give the office of the Austrian Trade Commission in Brussels – ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA – a new look as most parts of the office had been renovated back in the 1990s.

The objective was to create a lighter, modern and welcoming environment, equally for employees and clients. Due to budget constraints, the original plans – taking out existing walls and creating an open space office – could not been realised. However, we still brought in a lot of improvements such as LED lighting, new floors and painting, as well as creating a congenial meeting space.  Office equipment has been hidden by a vertical blind in the Austrian CI colours. The space makes very body happy as it doubles for formal and informal gatherings…

The Brussels ING Art Center is presently celebrating its 30th birthday. For this occasion the renowned Viennese artist Peter Kogler presents his floor to ceiling works. Ants, the brain, the terrestrial globe, the lightbulb and the lattice are so many lexical elements to be varied and explored.

His works are modelled by computer, then disposed on any flat surfaces or volume, creating an additional impressive dimension.

Meeting Alexander Girard at the Vitra House

Alexander Girard (1907–1993) was one of the most influential textile artists and interior designers of the twentieth century. He created worlds of colourful opulence in which everything was precisely and artfully coordinated, from the smallest details to the big picture. Examples include the Irwin Miller House in Columbus, Indiana (1953; architect Eero Saarinen) and the legendary restaurant La Fonda del Sol (1960) in New York. Girard designed furniture, small objects and fabrics.

The vitra museum, built by Frank Gehry, painted in honour of the Alexander Girard exhibition.

He also designed  for Braniff International Airways and collaborated with such designers as Charles & Ray Eames and George Nelson. The exhibition shows the creative universe from which Girard took his inspiration: folk art from all over the world, which the designer collected throughout his life, from Mexico to India..
A selection of 300 objects from his collection is also featured in the exhibition.

When contemporary meets ancient…

One of our latest projects is a beautiful example of a transitional style interior. The clients asked us to give the Salon of their stunning 19th century Hôtel-de-maître a more modern and easy to live with style lift.

We have chosen various items to compliment their grand 1930’s painting – all of which are locally sourced here in Belgium – the sofa from PH Collection, hand-made lamp shades from Artho, an antic chandelier from D+ Design, and last not least, a beautifully soft T-silk rug from Bomat’s Genoa collection.
